Important: Follow the instructions below, to install the new firmware.
- Stop any 3rd party backup services including Removable Storage Service. For example, for Veritas BackupExec, stop all BackupExec services. For Computer Associate's ArcServe, stop the ArcServe tape Engine.
- Download and Install VXA Tool:

- Check the firmware level of the drive. It is listed on the Main tab under the select tape drive section when you click the Get Drive Information button. If you have an older version, please download and install the new version.

Firmware Update Instructions:
Caution: Remove any data cartridge from the tape drive before upgrading firmware.
- Download the latest firmware release. Firmware files are typically archived in a ZIP(r) format. Extract the firmware zip file into the folder of your choice.
- Make sure there is no tape in the drive and your backup services are stopped.
- Select the Upgrade Drive Firmware button on the Main Page. Follow the prompts to guide you through selecting the firmware file.
- While the firmware upgrade is in progress, the drive's LEDs will flash. Do NOT interrupt a firmware update in progress. When the firmware update is complete, LEDs 1,2,3 will be off and LED 4 will be green.
- Once the firmware upgrade has completed, reboot your server.
